Opposition parties slams cm jagan proposal to have three capitals

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for his recent announcement that the state may have three capitals and termed it to be a 'Tughlaq act'.
Reddy’s announcement, on Tuesday, in the state legislature has drawn sharp criticism from the former chief minister and he said that the move will lead to difficulty in governance and will also divide people on regional lines.
Reddy, in the assembly, proposed that the existing capital Amaravati may continue to function as the legislative capital, Visakhapatanam may be made the executive capital and Kurnool may function as the judicial capital of the state.
The leader of opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly also questioned the location of the chief minister’s residence and said, "Will he build another house in Visakhapatnam".
Launching a stark attack at the chief minister, Naidu claimed that Amaravati was expected to become Rs 2 lakh crore asset for the state and Reddy destroyed it.
The idea of Amaravati was conceived by Naidu and he even took the Singapore government to design the new state capital. However, in May, the YSR Congress party was voted to power and they decided to re-look on the proposed capital’s development alleging that the previous government committed irregularities in acquiring lands and awarding contracts to various companies.
After taking into consideration the views of people from different regions in the state, the government formed a five-member panel to look into the matter of state capital.
The former chief minister also slammed Jaganmohan Reddy for announcing the proposal of having three capitals in the state even before the expert panel submitted its report.

On Tuesday, chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy while answering to a short discussion in the state’s legislative assembly iterated that three capitals are required in the state but also mentioned that the final decision will be taken after the committee submits its report to the government.
